Twenty-nine Filipino seafarers have remained stranded on three Chinese-flagged fishing vessels for the last one-year.
The seafarers are stranded off the coast of China after their vessels stopped operations last year in May.

According to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) it was co-ordinating with Philippine foreign service posts in China to immediately bring the seafarers, who are stranded off Dongshan county in Fujian province back to the country.
Last week the DFA provided them with packages containing food, clothing and hygiene kits to address their immediate needs.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola said that they are operating a team and the DFA will guarantee the safety and welfare of our seafarers.
Assistant Secretary Enrico Fos said that they are working with foreign service posts in China to bring home stranded seafarers. (AW)
