UAE motorists need to fix extra license plate with bicycle carrier

Authorities have said that UAE motorists will need to fix additional license plates with the bicycle carrier to avoid being fined.

According to officials, obscuring vehicle number plates even with objects like bike racks is a traffic offense.

They added that additional plates will be placed by motorists on the base of the bicycle holder at the boot or the trunk of vehicles carrying bicycles.

Any violation will attract AED 400 fine as per the federal traffic law.

The requirement of an additional license plate is aimed to avoid blocking the vehicle’s plate.

Colonel Mohammed Al-Berek Al-Amri, Directorate of the Drivers and Machines Licensing in the Central Operations Sector, confirmed the launch of the new initiative. (AW)
