
Campaigning has picked up in the run up to the 2022 presidential elections in the Philippines.
Presidential aspirants and their supporters continued canvassing in Metro Manila and in areas in the Visayas over the weekend.

Vice-President Leni Robredo was on her 2nd day in Bacolod City, where she met with the members of Murcia Women’s Association—Lakas ng Kababaihan (MWA-LNK). She also led the distribution of rice porridge (lugaw) in Murcia, organized by Laban Leni Negros Occidental for malnourished children in the area.
Robredo also led the ribbon-cutting and blessing of the Leni-Kiko Negros headquarters in Negros Occidental. Earlier in 2019, the Vice President banked on the votes from Negros provinces who opposed the dictatorship of the strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso wrapped up his visit in Cebu where he was welcomed by Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia and her brother, Cebu 3rd District Rep. Pablo John Garcia. He is hoping for the backing of the Garcia clan in the 2022 elections.
A week earlier, former senator Bongbong Marcos also visited Visayas. Marcos’ spokesman Atty. Vic Rodriguez however termed the meeting as only a coincidence: “Presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos and Mayor Sara Duterte finding themselves together in Cebu is just another beautiful coincidence.” (AW)
