Denmark removes mandatory mask rules

Denmark has announced that it will be removing the mandatory face mask rules including public transport.

The lifting of the mandatory mask protocols will take effect on Saturday.

“We are now in a situation… where a large part of the population has been vaccinated and we are returning to a more normal everyday life,” transport minister Benny Engelbrecht said in a statement in a report on ABS-CBN News.

“We can say goodbye to masks on buses, trains and the metro,” he added.

The original schedule of the lifting of the mask rules was scheduled on September 1.

Over 60 percent of Denmark’s eligible population has received the full dose of COVID-19 vaccines.

“We now have good control of the infection across society,” Helene Bilsted Probst, deputy director of the national health agency said in a statement.

“Therefore, we can adapt the prevention recommendations in such a way that people can maintain a normal daily life while respecting the principle of prevention,” they added.

Masks will remain mandatory on planes and airports. (TDT)
